A Month of Celebration at the Library

Southlake Library has a host of fun holiday activities available for you and your family this December.

Are you looking to create memorable experiences with your family this holiday season? The Library is offering a month full of free and fun activities! Discover the list of activities below. Registration is required where noted.

Mr. Vic & Friends Visit Story Time | Dec. 3 | 11:15 a.m. | Library
Mr. Vic and his puppet friends put on a one-of-a-kind show for young audiences. Best for ages 2-5 years.

Story Time at the Station – Holiday Edition | Dec. 4 |10 a.m. | 600 State Street

There will be no in-Library Story Times this day.
It’s one of our favorite events! We’re having Story Time at the Fire Station in Southlake. Our wonderful firefighters and police officers join in on the fun which includes, stories, songs and more. Best for ages 2-5 years.

Ornament Making Party | Dec .5 | 4:30 p.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor

This season comes but once a year, let’s get together for some holiday cheer. Join us as we make ornaments, enjoy holiday music and nibble on holiday treats. All ages.

Holiday Open House | Dec. 7 | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Library

Visit with us on this Saturday morning to hear the music of Mistletoe & Melodies with the Guy Forsyth & Jesika Bailey, enjoy holiday snacks and a cocoa bar, make a holiday craft and take pictures with special guest – Olaf! All ages.

Sugar Cooking Decorating for Kids | Dec. 12| 4:30 p.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor Registration is required.

Join us and Frosted Cookies Organic Bakery in a sweet workshop. Each participant will get to decorate two delicious cookies to take home. Ages 5 and up only.

STEAM Story Time | Dec 13 | 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. | Library

A hands-on storytime that introduces young children to early concepts of science, technology, engineering, arts & math. Registration not required. For ages 3-5.

Wizart | Dec 13 | 4:45 p.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor

Award-winning student artists teach artistic techniques to children ages 5-12. A different project is planned each month to develop a variety of skills.

Advanced Sugar Cooking Decorating for Adults & Teens | Dec 13 | 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor | Registration required

Master cookie decorator Alexis Ruddock teaches you the fine art of cookie decorating. Each attendee will have two cookies to decorate with an intricate design. Step by step directions are given and all supplies are provided.
Adults & teens ages 13 & up only.

Story Time with Mrs. Claus | Dec. 20 | 9:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor

Join Mrs. Claus in celebration of the season with sing-a-longs, books, hot cocoa and cookies–what a treat! Don’t forget your cameras, photos after the program. All ages.

James Wand Magic Show | Dec. 30 | 11 a.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor

Children will enjoy the exciting magic and hilarious tales of top-secret adventures and learn a ton of important information. Best for ages 4 and up.

Noon Year’s Eve Toast | Dec. 31| 11:45 a.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor
There will be no in-Library Story Times this day.

Count down to the almost New Year with this kid-focused celebration.  Enjoy crafts, party food and an apple juice toast to the Noon New Year. All ages.

Mad Science Show | Jan. 2 | 11 a.m. | Town Hall 3rd Floor

This spectacular show thrills audiences with impressive science experiments. The event includes foggy dry ice storms and love demonstrations on how giant beach balls can float in the air. Best for ages 3 and up
