The American Baroque Opera Company along with the Avant Chamber Ballet will present, “The Decent of Orpheus to the Underworld” or La descente d’Orphée aux enfers, Sunday, November 3, 4 p.m. at White’s Chapel Church.
The 2 act opera, written by French composer Charpentier around 1686 will be performed in French with English translation provided on screen. The classic story centers around Orpheus; a musician, poet and prophet in ancient Greek religion and his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld.
