Southlake Girls Softball Association Scores with City Partnership!

City Council approved the recommendation from the Southlake Parks Development Corporation during the December 3 City Council meeting to match a funds request for the Southlake Girls Softball Association in the amount of $30,000.

The funds will go toward installing a shaded structure to the existing batting cages at the Bob Jones Softball Complex. The proposed structure will provide spectators and players protection from the heat during practice and games.

Council matched the amount at 100% for a total project cost of $60,000 based on the recommendation from the SPDC Matching Funds program.

By leveraging strong partnerships, the City and groups like SGSA can come together and make a positive impact in the community. This new addition at the Bob Jones Softball Complex will provide a unique space for the enjoyment of personal interests, allow the City to maintain high-quality public assets and offset the cost for capital improvement projects.

Proposals for the matching funds requests are considered on a project-by-project basis and should support the advancement and implementation of the Southlake 2030 Parks, Recreation and Open Space/Community Facilities Master Plan. Therefore, if the proposed project meets the criteria and can improve an existing project, City Council, following a recommendation from the SPDC Board of Directors, determines the percentage match up to 100%.
