American Baroque Opera Co. and Avant Chamber Ballet Comes to Southlake

The American Baroque Opera Company along with the Avant Chamber Ballet will present, “The Decent of Orpheus to the Underworld” or La descente d’Orphée aux enfers, Sunday, November 3, 4 p.m. at White’s Chapel Church.

The 2 act opera, written by French composer Charpentier around 1686 will be performed in French with English translation provided on screen. The classic story centers around Orpheus; a musician, poet and prophet in ancient Greek religion and his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld.

ABO performs fully staged Baroque operas; costumed performances with chamber (small) orchestra using period instruments. Tickets $20 adults, $15 seniors/Apex members $10 children are available online at apexartsleague.com or at the door.
