“Unity” by Farah Janjua, A Cultural Journey Illustrated Through Photographs

This fall, the Southlake Arts Council has partnered with the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture to present “Unity” by Farah Janjua. The exhibit is a cultural journey illustrated through photographs, and will be on display in Town Hall lobby from September 13th – November 1st.

The Artist, Farah Janjua is currently based in Dallas, and is originally from Pakistan. She has been pursuing photography since 1992. For Janjau, photography is a means to explore the infinite possibilities in art to work for the betterment of humanity. It is a bridge to connect the diverse mindsets and break the barriers of a world divided by boundaries and it often serves as a looking glass that mirrors our thoughts.

According to Janjua: “I feel the message of the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture and Southlake Public Arts connects perfectly with the message of my work and what I am trying to achieve though my art. My mission is to stress the need to honor humanity and collectively work towards connecting hearts and minds through appreciating our similarities and respecting our differences. I believe that if we unite for the aim of nurturing intercultural understanding and embracing diversity, we can create a stronger force for a peaceful future for everyone! I truly appreciate the efforts of your organization which I believe is doing beautiful work to bring us all together!”

Janjua recently published a photography book “Jerusalem-Three Souls in One City” promoting interfaith harmony. The book is a pictorial testimony of how humanizing each other is the first step towards achieving peaceful co-existence.

Please join the City of Southlake at a reception featuring Janua’s work on September 22nd in Southlake Town Hall. The reception is from 5:00-6:30PM and is free and open to the public.
