Leaf Recycling Pickup to extend through Friday 12/18

Warm temperatures and late falling leaves have made recent leaf recycling efforts very successful, but it also caused delays with pick up.

That’s why Republic Services is extending its leaf pickup through today (12/17) and tomorrow (12/18).

“A complete pickup is our goal,” said T.J. Noorlag Republic Service’s Supervisor. “As it turns out, the warm temperatures, recent storms and public awareness of this program have dramatically increased the load, but we will get them all collected.”

The leaf recycling program is part of the City’s Garbage and Recycling contract with Republic Services.  The last pick up date for this winter takes place Wednesday, January 13th.

As a reminder, residents may bag their leaves using any type of bag. Bagged leaves must also be physically separated from other solid waste at the curb.

The City’s Leaf Recycling Program aims to reduce the amount of valuable landfill space that is used up by yard waste. Since the program’s inception,  Southlake residents have bagged and recycled more than 1900 tons of leaves.
